As you can see, it would have been nice for the garage to have been sided correctly, but that would have been the easy way. So for the time being, we just have a shed-shaped gap on the garage wall.
We thought the excitement of the old man's innovations was over, but oh no. As the sprinkler guys were trenching, they hit a PVC-pipe live gas line that the old man laid from the main to the greenhouse. He didn't tell anyone about it or lay an electrical wire with it so it would show up on a utility scan, he just laid an illegal gas line. Yay. We just love it when contractors say, "I've never seen it done that way before." At least they found it instead of it sitting in the ground until the PVC cracked and blew up the garage and possibly the house.
Fortunately, a plumber was able to safely cap the illegal line. We've been informed that due to the state of our main gas line, we should probably have it all replaced in the next couple of years anyway, but at least we didn't have to cough up that $1000 this week.

"Money Pit" comes to mind.
I have to say, the shed-shape on the side of your garage makes me giggle. :)
